About
Kandace Thomas is an innovating leader, change maker and advocate whose work is rooted in learning, engaging and being. She’s a children’s social and emotional well-being program, policy and systems building strategist and has developed extensive expertise in child development, infant and early childhood mental health, trauma-informed care and mindfulness.
The Request
Kandace approached us needing a personal brand refresh and new website that incorporated and highlighted all aspects of her life. She didn’t need to focus on any one strategy or thing in particular but has an extensive professional history and really wanted to just take better control of her presence online and consistency in her materials and branding. She had some job prospects looming, so things like a newly designed résumé and business cards were needed, as well as items like stationary powerpoint presentation templates.
What We Did
We set about discussing with Kandace her visions and needs around her materials, with the long term arc of her career in mind, and put together a creative direction to help guide our process. We then collected all of her materials- former résumés, presentations, professional bios, and collaborated on re-organizing and re-writing what would be needed for her next phase. We created mood boards and mockups for brand themes and developed a simple, personal logotype along with a color palette and typography set that felt great to her. We finished up our project together by diving into website development, training her in its management, and launching live. It was around this point that she received news of a job offer as the new Executive Director of First 8 Memphis!
